Position Overview:

 

  • We are seeking a Sales Technical Specialist to work closely with the Account Team to promote customer understanding and adoption of Next Generation Optical and Software Solutions.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate success in sales support, account management and services solutions growth
  • You will interface directly with key clients in a lab environment to identify business problems or needs and determine solutions.  
  • A typical day as a Technical Specialist will consist of developing statements of work, test plans, and use case documents and producing value-add analysis
  • In this position, you will report to Eric Strand, Manager of Technical Specialists
  • As part of the Technical Specialists team, you will collaborate across functional departments including sales, marketing, operations and R&D
  • This position works for Fujitsu Network Communications either in the Northeast USA (New York / New Jersey) or in Richardson, Texas.  We are currently working remotely due to COVID and anticipate returning to the office in 2021, or when appropriate.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time following our return to the office
     

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical field
  • Optical networking experience (minimum 5 years)
  • Previous work experience:
    • Previous experience in Sales Engineering or Solutions Architect roles is preferred
    • Technical sales
    • Engineering project management and/or;
    • Direct customer-interactive technical support for engineered solutions
    • Strong Communications Skills: In writing, developing, and presenting technical content for both internal and external stakeholders
  • A past history of success:
    • Managing complex projects across multi-functioning teams with aggressive deadlines and completing them on-time and within budget
    • Solving client challenges through utilizing independent problem-solving skills

 

Desired Skills & Knowledge:

  • Awareness of industry trends including multi-vendor & multi-technology solutions
  • Pre-Sales Functions include:
    • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and sales proposals explaining solutions and services to Customers and prospective Customers
    • Testing / Troubleshooting / Certification of new solutions including creation of custom deployment guidelines.
    • Confer with Customers and engineers to assess solution and system requirements
    • Collaborate with sales teams to understand Customer requirements and provide sales support
    • Recommend improved processes to Customers, showing how changes will lower costs or improve technical and/or economic results
    • Help in researching and developing new products with our partners, vendors and subcontractors
    • Coordination and direct support for initial field services for new projects
  • Post-Sales Functions include:
    • Help internal and external clients solve problems with installed solutions
    • Evolve Customer solutions as business requirements changes
    • Work with Operations, vendors and subcontractors on optimizing Customer solutions
    • Work with Customer Engineering, Customer Operations, and vendors on technical lifecycle management of Customer solutions 
  • Experience with multi-vendor & multi-technology solutions
  • Excellent client facing skills
