Position Overview:

  • We are seeking a resident Technical Specialist/Sales Engineer based in Redmond, WA or surrounding area to promote customer understanding and adoption of OpenRAN, 5G infrastructure, and Private 5G Solutions
  • The ideal candidate will have Radio Product Support or Sales Engineer experience, with strong technical understanding of wireless mobile networks including 3GPP LTE 4G and 5G standards
  • You will interface with clients and other OpenRAN vendors to identify business problems or needs and determine technical solutions, specifically utilizing extensive knowledge of Radio Access Network (RAN) components including Radio Units (RU) and Centralized Units (CU)/Distributed Units (DU)
  • A typical day as a Technical Specialist Engineer will consist of multi-vendor hardware and software interop tests in a lab environment.   Deliverables include team collaboration to develop statements of work, test plans, and use case documents and producing value-add analysis
  • In this position, you will report to Eric Strand, Manager of Technical Specialists
  • As part of the Technical Specialists team, you will collaborate across functional departments including engineering, R&D, sales & marketing
  • This position works for Fujitsu Network Communications and will be based at a customer location in Redmond, Washington
  • Some sales/collaboration (less than 20%) travel outside of Washington will be required (For example: visits to Fujitsu labs in Richardson, TX)

 

Example Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and sales proposals explaining solutions and services to Customers and prospective Customers
  • Perform interop tests and sales technical support for radio products at a customer lab environment, including troubleshooting and issue resolution for RAN equipment
  • Confer with Customers and engineers to assess solution and system requirements
  • Conduct test and validation of wireless protocols for RAN equipment using both commercial and prototype User Equipment (UEs)
  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand Customer requirements and provide sales support
  • Recommend improved processes to Customers, showing how changes will lower costs or improve technical and/or economic results
  • Utilize a variety of tools and devices for testing and validation purposes
  • Demonstrate system-level understanding and working knowledge of 4G/5G technologies
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in science and technology, including AI, networking, cloud computing, surveillance, virtualization, electronics circuits, and defense industry developments

 

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field
  • Carrier technical sales or product support experience with RAN solutions, with a focus on wireless network design, deployment, optimization, and troubleshooting (5-10 years) 
  • Experience working with 3GPP LTE 4G and 5G standards, including technical specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of O-RAN fronthaul architecture and functional splits, with a focus on 7.2 CAT-A and 7.2 CAT-B configurations
  • Proficiency in the call-flow process, including call establishment and teardown procedures
  • Familiarity with over-the-air testing of LTE, LTE-A, 5G NR, CPE and UE
  • Ability to analyze system logs, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), statistics, and performance issues to identify root causes and recommend solutions
  • Experience in test and validation of wireless protocols
  • Proficiency in using various tools and devices for testing purposes
  • Ability to comprehend system-level concepts and apply them to practical scenarios
  • Familiarity with a wide range of science and technology domains
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and internal teams

Fujitsu salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. ​ It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each situation. The pay range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: specific skills, qualifications, experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. The pay range for this position is estimated at $107,856.00 to $154,080.00 USD. Additionally, this role may be eligible for a short-term incentive based on company results and individual performance.
