Req ID:16396
As a Support Engineering III, you will define, architect, and implement high-capacity optical network designs for the 1FINITY platform and other Fujitsu transport solutions. Working at the intersection of system design and field integration, you’ll transform customer and business requirements into detailed optical network blueprints that ensure seamless deployment and operational excellence.
This position functions upstream of field and support implementation teams — designing the photonic foundation that drives downstream success. You will collaborate closely with Support Engineers, Project Managers, and Customer Engineering teams to deliver robust, scalable, and high-availability DWDM/ROADM/OTN networks that support today’s digital transformation.
You’ll take ownership of link-level design, optical margining, service modeling, configuration strategy, and performance validation, ensuring that each solution is technically sound, cost-effective, and operationally ready for live deployment.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and validate optical network architectures, including ROADM topology, channel plans, span engineering, and amplifier placement.
- Generate High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), and Network Design Documents (NDD) for use by downstream engineering and field deployment teams.
- Perform optical power budgeting, span loss analysis, and OSNR validation using simulation tools and lab verification.
- Create and review Method of Procedures (MOPs), test plans, and configuration templates to guide provisioning and acceptance.
- Provide Tier 3 design-level support during implementation and maintenance windows, ensuring minimal disruption during migrations and network augmentations.
- Interface with multi-vendor optical and packet systems (Flashwave(UOS) 9500; Ciena 6500; Infinera DTN-X; Nokia 1830; Cisco NCS/ONS) to ensure interoperability and design consistency.
- Collaborate with Support Engineering on optical commissioning, BERT, and end-to-end validation testing strategies.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives — automation of design workflows, documentation standardization, and operational excellence.
- Mentor junior engineers and field personnel in optical design principles and best practices.
- Support of occasional maintenance window activities when required.
- Travel required up to 50% of the time.
