SUMMARY:

Performs a range of routine maintenance and repair work, both skilled, and semi-skilled, in support of facility related operations on and around the Fujitsu campus. Qualified candidates should be a Master Electrician (preferred) with a GED or High School Diploma, have 5 plus years experience in the industrial maintenance field, the ability to read blueprints and schematics, and have mechanical and electrical work experience. Personnel management or Lead experience preferred.  AutoCAD skills beneficial.

 

Duties include equipment maintenance, calibration, equipment movement/relocation and installation, troubleshooting, and repair as well as facility layout evaluation in preparation of new equipment. Must be familiar with welding, plumbing, carpentry, and pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical repair. Requires a working knowledge of all indoor/outdoor production and facilities equipment. Light parts fabrication, machining, small engine repair and troubleshooting skills are useful. The candidate must also have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and safely use hand and power tools to perform maintenance tasks.  The qualified candidate may be called upon to perform any number of general maintenance tasks, with a primary emphasis on higher level electrical work as outlined below.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Responsible for in-house electrical design work, pricing and scheduling, materials procurement, and installation.  Plans electrical systems additions or modifications on secondary circuits; repairs faults in secondary system and performs preventive maintenance on high voltage components.  Operates and maintains high voltage switchgear and controls; repairs and maintains motor control centers and other controls devices.  May perform work of lower level electricians. 
  • Job duties include developing cost/savings analysis plans, new work/job justification and ROI, project planning and development, and job estimation.  Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, replacement, and efficiency.  Plans, maintains, repairs, and installs electrical secondary system additions or modifications. 
  • Responsible for indoor and outdoor lighting architecture and lighting automation scheduling and controls.  Reads, employs, and updates electrical panel schedules and building or system blueprints.  Also, responsible for primary and secondary 48VDC distribution.
  • Oversee campus electrical work to ensure NEC compliance and local code compliance.  Leads, guides, and/or trains other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.  Maintains inventory of spare parts.
  • Overall responsibility for the maintenance and repair of building system infrastructure, including upkeep of buildings, grounds, equipment and limited central plant mechanical and electrical systems. Supports crew leads to troubleshoot equipment and helps with startup and trouble alarms. Other duties as assigned.
  • Executes all assigned maintenance work, including preventive maintenance, routine maintenance, and urgent work assignments. Work will include routine telecom/datacom work, periodic outdoor cooling tower repair and maintenance, plumbing, electrical, or general mechanical repairs, carpentry work, welding, and facilities equipment repairs.
  • Responsible for completing required reports and documentation including purchase requisitions, inventory reports and job work orders (Facility Service Requests).
  • May be responsible for assigned project work within the implementation of capital projects.
  • May be responsible for furniture installation, providing both electrical and telecom/datacom to the workstations or other areas.  Other duties including painting and wall patching as assigned.
  • Provides basic maintenance and repair of plumbing systems as directed, to include repair of leaking fixtures, unclogging drains, and maintaining water coolers and ice machines.
  • Troubleshoots, maintains, and performs basic repair of minor building electrical problems, such as changing lamps and ballasts, fixtures, switches, photo cells, and outlets.
  • May be required to perform a range of grounds maintenance activities, such as cutting grass and weeds, maintaining lawn equipment (small engine repair), cleaning ditches and culverts, making routine grounds inspections for sprinkler system leaks and other problems, repairing sprinkler leaks, repairing fences, and picking up trash.
  • Responsible for identifying problem areas on all roofs and air handlers related to rainwater leaks and other weathering.

Qualification:

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Master (Preferred) Electrician with Industrial Maintenance background.  High school diploma or GED with 5 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Electrical maintenance, Plumbing installation, communication cabling, and repair skills.

Ability to troubleshoot and repair major electrical problems, and to perform and plan routine, electrical installations.

Knowledge of grounds maintenance principles, procedures, and equipment.

Basic carpentry and painting skills.

Custodial skills / Landscaping skills.

Roofing and roof repair skills.

Telecom/Datacom cabling skills.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. This position requires significant and extended periods of physical activity. Applied physical work is the primary part (more than 80%) of the job.

 

Physical requirements for all maintenance positions:

  • Heavy, exertion and physical work for extended time periods including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds or more over long distances.
  • Climbing tall, steep ladders and mechanical staircases while carrying heavy tools and equipment.
  • Walking long distances carrying tools for long periods up to a full shift, and pushing carts, such as while mowing, operating an edger, operating a backpack blower, delivering equipment, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Must have a full range of normal body motion and movement in order to be able to access building equipment and services in locations that are very difficult to access.  Spaces, such as crawl spaces, manholes, rooftops, mechanical rooms, and plumbing chases.   Access to these spaces will require bending, kneeling, climbing, stooping, stretching, twisting, running, lifting, hammering, crawling, dragging, pulling, pushing, rolling, and other strenuous activities in small spaces.
  • Must be able to work strenuously in difficult and extreme temperature conditions for extended periods of time, such as the boiler room, outdoors in direct sunlight in ambient temperatures of 105 degrees F, unloading freight trucks with interior temperatures of approx. 130 degrees F, de-icing crew duty with temperatures of approx. 10 degrees F, and working outdoors in the rain.
  • Must be able to work in areas with unpleasant odors, such as grease trap odors, and sewage odors.
  • Must be able to work in areas that are continuously wet, and the individual will get we while servicing, such as plumbing repairs, sprinkle repairs and setup.
  • Must be able to work with up to 30 lbs of tools and equipment with arms extended over head for long periods of time.  In such activities as installing conduit, pulling wire, changing ballasts, and drilling overhead.
  • Must be able to see well enough to read small gauges and small font schematics in dimly light areas and when partially obscured by dirt and debris and be able read the same type of information in full sunlight.
  • Must be able to hear well enough to understand emergency verbal communications, hear warning bells, whistles and sirens in noisy environments like mechanical rooms.
  • Must be able to hear well enough to respond to noisy bearings, squeaky belts, and to be able to tell if equipment is operating or not.
  • Must be able to talk well enough and loud enough to communicate emergency information.  Such as gauge readings, Fire, Help, Over Here.
  • Work environment may involve potential exposure to dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment and/or respirators.  Must be in good physical condition in order to become respirator certified to utilize respirators.
  • Must be readily and safely able to fit into and through a 20-inch diameter manhole, and a 20-inch square mechanical hatch.
  • While carrying 50 lbs of tools, parts, equipment and/or safety equipment, individual must be able to safely utilize ladders, personnel lifts, stairways, fall protection equipment, and other types of equipment that have a maximum total weight capacity of 300 lbs.
