We are seeking a Head of Global Network Systems  in Richardson, Texas

 

Responsibility:

  • Collaborate / Co-create with the global business teams to establish market requirements, plan of vision virtual catalogs, incubate the concepts to product requirements and solution usecases. Translate business opportunities into engineering initiatives
  • Lead product and solution system requirement, design, validation and support. Align and collaborate with development team to the shared technical direction and partners with those teams in elaborating the Solution and its interfaces; Validate technology assumptions;
  • Drives state-of-art and/or future network system architecture / solutions aligning with the market and technology trends.  Conduct feasibilty study and recommend new technologies and tools deployment
  • Oversee and support the Engineering Customer Support for global packet optical products and solutions; Oversee and support both short- and long-term softare development factory infrastructure programs, strategy, functionality and operational management practices
  • Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics for quality and velocity; drive effective changes, institutionize policies, processes and best practices;
  • Support multiple concurrent 1FINITY/FSS projects; co-create/co-develop initiatives that are of high complex and high impact to the overall business and operation efficiency
  • Accountable for the organizational budget, effective expense management and forecasting. Work with the global financial teams in review and manage expense & capital budgets to maximize margins and achieve targeted financial objectives
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the Engineering Managers and Engineering teams; Conduct resource planning, performance management, organizational development, succession planning; promote employee engagement and productivity
  • Work with executive leadership to set expectations. You’ll manage risks, dependencies and tradeoffs inevitable in complex project delivery and operation excellency
  • Be a coach, thought partner, and sounding board: “Coach, don’t tell.” You will help your team build problem-solving skills by practicing reflective listening, asking good questions, and giving timely, direct and kind feedback and encouragement.
  • Recruit, engage, and retain great problem-solvers and collaborators. Responsible for building D&I teams, where everyone feels comfortable and safe being themselves at work.

 

Qualifications

  • 12+ years Engineering experience including product development, delivery, support at technology-led organizations; 8+ years managing and leading teams. We’ll want to hear how your reports developed and grew under your leadership, and how you made your work environment inclusive and psychologically safe.
  • Demonstrates thought leader-level abilities with, and/or a proven record of success and specialization; Experience managing Engineering Managers. Proven ability to operate/lead effectively in a geographically & culturally diversed organization.
  • Ability to attract talent and develop high performing teams. Proven recruiting experience as a hiring manager.
  • Solid understanding and staying up-to-date with technical standard/forums and protocols in both the telco and hyperscaler industries, has breath & depth on Systems and Solution Architectures
  • Experiences in developing multi-layer SW and system solutions in a multi-vendor collaborative structure, a deep understanding on multi-teir telco customer OSS/deployment models
  • Hands on experience in one or more hyperscaler clouds, cloud native compute, Dockers/K8s.
  • Hands on experience on Atlassian tool sets, CICD Pipelines, microservice ecosystems in a cloud-native environment.
  • Understanding of HW architecture and HW/SW interface design principles/processes
  • Successful track record defining direction and providing specific instruction for engineering projects/programs leveraging personal knowledge and organizational skills to increase team efficiency, facilitate personal development and mentor colleagues.
  • Demonstrated research, critical thinking and problem solving skills via prior work experience. Must have a strong work ethic, integrity and work extremely well in a team environment; Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Great verbal and written communication skills. You should be able to explain your approach and the impact of your work to non-technical stakeholders in a way that is clear to them.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in CS / EE / CES; Master’s Degree or Ph. D. Degree a plus;
