Position: Software Engineer III, CORE PLATFORM

What will you do at Fujitsu?

Virtuora Network Controller (Virtuora NC) is a comprehensive, extensible, modular suite of software products that enable you to build and grow a virtualized, programmable network. Virtuora NC software utilizes a micro services architecture and leverages open source technologies to provide a complete suite of SDN controller functionality (i.e. control, planning and design, operations and management, service fulfillment and assurance functions). Virtuora NC is currently used by many large telecom service providers around the world.

We are looking for a Software Engineer with experience deploying distributed systems in customers’ production environments. You have experience with multiple open source technologies (Big Data, Containers, Message Bus, etc.) as well as hands-on programming expertise in Java, Python, and/or Go. You are a resourceful self-starter who relishes new technical challenges, taking initiative, and always strives to make our software systems better. You will help drive the evolution of the core Network Controller components that will be needed to achieve the next level of scalability and reliability.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

  • Development and integration of Core Platform components, including cross-cutting concerns such as logging, security, persistence, high-availability, notifications, messaging, RESTful APIs.
  • Help provide platform services and tools for Virtuora SDN applications software
  • Help refine Platform Software work flow, SW tools, & App SW platform environment.
  • Help maintain and evolve the App SW Platform code base.
  • Help provide technical guidance to other software teams on services and tools provided by the Platform team.
  • Participate in requirement analysis, design, development, and maintenance of multiple software components of SDN controller to meet customer requirements using innovative technologies. 
  • Issue investigation, status, and resolution during System Test. 
  • Accountable for as-planned execution and quality of the software developed.

 

Requirements: 

 

  • Bachelors (or higher) degree in Computer Science, EE, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development of EMS application or SDN Controller
  • Expertise in Core Java, Threads, Collections, and Data structures 
  • Good experience in OOAD, Design patterns, UML modeling 
  • Hands-on experience of various communication protocols such as Netconf, TL1 and modeling tools such as Yang, Json, XML 
  • Good knowledge with databases Oracle/MySQL/Cassandra 
  • Experience in at least 1-2 full cycle development of Network Management Systems products 
  • Experience in designing and developing REST APIs 
  • Exposure to messaging frameworks like Kafka and Java related frameworks like OSGI, Blueprint, SpringBoot
  • Experience in unit test, continuous integration (CI/CD) frameworks such as Junit, Jenkins, postman 
  • Familiarity with Git, Gerrit, JIRA, Familiar with Agile/Scrum development methodologies. 
  • Good verbal and written communications skills along with an ability to work in a team environment will also be key assets
  • Experience in Linux or any equivalent UNIX flavors
  • Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, micro-services technology
  • Motivated, goal oriented, strong work ethic
  • Ability to take the lead, responsible for project completion
  • Flexible, adaptable and open to change
  • Ability to collaborate on software development requirements and share innovative approaches or ideas with team members.
  • Candidates for this job should have strong technical, analytical, modelling, programming skills 

Nice to Have: 

 

  • Exposure to HDFS, ElasticSearch, Kafka, Spark, and distributed big-data systems 
  • Hands-on experience with Open Daylight (ODL) and SDN controller development
