1.0 Job Purpose


This position is a technical leadership role driving the design and engineering process for various complex projects, working through and qualifying network and engineering architecture and design, assist in RFP/RFI and business development. Candidate will work with FNC Program Managers, delivery teams, maintenance team and other cross functional organization and groups. Candidate is expected to provide guidance to field staff during the delivery phase and work with extended Solution Architect team to resolve technical issues and be the subject matter expert. Juniper focused expertise and experience are preferred for this role. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Manager, Network Design and Integration, within Services Design and Build business unit. 


The Solutions Architect will work with all organization levels and Lines of Business (LOBs) including: Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Program Management, Professional Services, Deployment Services, Maintenance Services, and Business Operations.  This position will be responsible for the identification, qualification, technical architecture and detail design, and capture solutions opportunities, including assistance with project P&L development, risk identification and mitigation, proposal coordination of Fujitsu and 3rd party equipment and services.


2.0 Responsibilities

  • Be the networking technology Subject Matter Expert for large-scale, end-to-end network solutions composed of OSI Layer 1 – 4 technologies to include but not be limited to long-haul DWDM transport elements, MPLS routed traffic, fixed fiber access, and metro Ethernet services from design, through integration, test and turn up, and operations.
  • Creation of network plan, network architecture design, detail design, element configurations and scripts, and methods of procedures.
  • Network validation testing activities to confirm designed features and functionalities according to customer requirements.
  • Conduct network reviews of customer environments and provide “best-in-class” benchmark assessments with the following deliverables:
    • Gap identification and analysis
    • Recommendations/designs to address gaps and detailed plans to implement recommendations with cost & value analysis
  • Develop and promote a refined understanding of both the technology and the network services solution to enable integration of network services with enterprise customer networking environment across "heterogeneous" technical platforms encompassing various technology vendors.
  • Develop reference architecture solutions for vertical applications by coordinating proof of concept (PoC) validation.
  • Demonstrate Technical Thought Leadership through verticals and technology specific white papers and collateral, and participate in industry speaking engagements and panel discussions

3.0 Experience

  • Advanced working knowledge and hands on experience with Network layer 1/2/3, MPLS/Ethernet, MPLS VPNs, VPLS, DWDM
  • Working experience with vertical markets, government, service providers is plus
  • Expert level of experience in one, demonstrable expertise in all:
  • IP/MPLS routed networking
  • Fixed access networking (GPON, EPON, XGS-PON, NG-PON2)
  • SD-WAN and NFV
  • Voice, Video, Data services development and delivery
  • Extensive understanding of Layer 1 through Layer 3 network services and technologies, including dark fiber, DWDM, SONET/SDH, Ethernet, MPLS, and IP.
  • A strong experience with network integration test planning and execution in multi-vendor environment
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Juniper, Cisco, Nokia, Calix, and Adtran products



4.0 Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Masters in an Engineering discipline a plus
  • CCIE/JNCIE/CCIP/JNCIP certifications or equal qualification or understanding of the concepts.
