Technical Support Engineer

 

Job Description

Services Operations & Maintenance is looking for a highly experienced mid-level engineer with advanced skillsets in hardware/software validation, solution deployment, and customer maintenance support. The selected candidate must demonstrate advance knowledge in Fiber Optic Networking, to include Layer 2 and Layer 3 Networking. Advanced knowledge in Routing and Switching is highly desired. Deployed solutions may include Fujitsu products and/or 3rd party vendor products. Candidate must have excellent customer service soft-skills, and be able to work in fast pace environment, via the phone.

Accountabilities

  • Willing to work any shift in a 24x7x365 operations environment, to include weekends and holidays
  • Troubleshoot network issues via telephone while using remote access tools
  • Possess and exhibit strong customer service soft skills
  • Duplicate customer reported incidents in lab environment for troubleshooting efforts
  • Perform real-time health check on all hardware and software components
  • Assist in Development of automated test scripts in a lab and production environment
  • Perform software, hardware installation/upgrades in lab and production environment
  • Validation of troubleshooting procedures and MOPS in lab environment
     
    Qualifications
    Required
  • 5+ Years with working experience in telecommunications
  • Flexibility to work any shift, to include weekends and holidays
  • Demonstrate drive and individual initiative from previous experience
  • Advanced knowledge in network virtualization and cloud technologies
  • Advanced knowledge Fiber Optic Networking, with emphasis in SONET
  • Advanced knowledge in IP protocols (OSPF, BGP, IS-IS), MPLS, Ethernet, Routing, and Switching
  • Advanced knowledge of telecommunication technologies (SONET, DWDM, OTN)
  • Experience supporting new product deployments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to successfully multiple tasks while under pressure
  • Detailed analytical abilities and technical writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
     
    Desired
  • Degree in Engineering and/or 5+ years working experience
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge in Fujitsu Telecommunication Products
  • Cisco and/or Juniper Routing/Switching Certifications
  • Background performing product vendor lab evaluations
  • Background demonstrating strong Layer 2 working knowledge
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge in Java scripting
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge in SNMP/NETCONF
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge in Unix
